Vegetational surveys have been carried out starting from late summer 2015-2019 in order to assess the site composition. The interpretation of vegetational data will be carried out taking into account the soil nutrients status.

In 1973-1976 Duelli made vegetation records of the alpine grassland at Hohe Mut mountain for her Dissertation. The data of this Dissertation have been digitalised and functioned as a basis for a comparative study within the footprints-project. The part of the footprint-project had the aim to compare the vegetation-records from Duelli at Hohe Mut (alpine grassland) with vegetation-records from 1999-2006, in regard of long-term changing vegetation developement. Original data of Duelli are presented here.

Dataset provides information about soil temperature, soil C and N dynamics at different sites in the alpine tundra, along an elevational gradient from 2500 to 2900 m asl during the period 2007-2019. The soil temperature is measured continuously while the soil and the water samples are collected during the snow free season. The ongoing studies aimed at investigating how the meteorological variables affect the biogeochemistry of seasonally snow covered areas, with a special focus on the effect of the snow cover duration on soil and water C and N dynamics during the growing season.

Dataset provides information about reactive silica (in mg Si L-1) in Lake Paione Inferiore (LPI) at different layer depths along the water column within the period 2014-2020. Data are at least biannual (late summer/autumn). In total 47 records of reactive silica in the Lake for the period are uploaded. The range is from 0.065 to 1.39 mg Si L-1 (±0.153). Lake Paione Inferiore is a high altitude Alpine lake, located in the Bognanco Valley, Province of Verbania, Piedmont Region, Italy. It has a surface area of 0.86 ha and a maximum depth of 13.5 m. The lake is included in the monitoring sites of the UN-ECE Program ICP WATERS (International Cooperative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Acidification of Rivers and Lakes) and in the NEC-Italy network. It is also a research site of the LIFE MODERn NEC Project (LIFE20 GIE/IT/000091).

Dataset provides information about reactive silica (in mg Si L-1) in Lake Paione Superiore (LPS) at different layer depths along the water column within the period 1984-2013. Data are at least biannual (late summer/autumn). In total 283 records of reactive silica in the Lake for the period are uploaded. The range is from 0.14 to 0.82 mg Si L-1 (±0.105). Lake Paione Superiore is a high altitude Alpine lake, located in the Bognanco Valley, Piedmont Region, Italy. It has a surface area of 0.68 ha and a maximum depth of 11.5 m. The Lake is included in the monitoring sites of the UN-ECE Program ICP WATERS (International Cooperative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Acidification of Rivers and Lakes)

Dataset provides information about the major cations -calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium (in mg L-1) in Lake Paione Superiore (LPS) at different layer depths along the water column collected at least twice per year (late summer/autumn) within the period 2014-2020.

Data contains parameters to show seedling-differences of grazed and ungrazed alpine and subalpine grasslands. Fences for grazing exclusion were established in 2000. Presented data confers to sampling in 2009. On permanent plots of different sites in Obergurgl, seedlings of different species were counted per plot, stand height was measured per plot and different coverage data was recorded. Additionally vegetation records were made on each sampled plot. Each site contains 6 permanent plots (3 Ex + 3 Co), one permanent plot has a size of 1 m². Ex = Exclosure site (ungrazed plots, plots within fences to exclosure grazing), Co = Control site (grazed plots, plots outside the fences). Data have been used for analysis and publications for the research center Berglandwirtschaft, Innsbruck.

Dataset provides information about conductivity determined at 20°C (in µS cm-1) in Lake Paione Superiore(LPS) at different layer depths collected at least twice per year(late summer/autumn) during the period 1984-2013. In total 283 records of conductivity in LPS for the period 1984-2013 are uploaded. The range of the parameter is from 5,44 to 16,69 µS cm-1(±1,62). The ongoing studies of the water chemistry of Paione lakes aimed at monitoring their recovery from acidification and/or possible responses to climate warming. The Paione lakes (Inferiore and Superiore) are an example of acid-sensitive environments which began in the 1990s to show signs of recovery, with an improvement in pH values and alkalinity and a decrease in sulphate concentrations in response to atmospheric loads.

Dataset provides information about Total alkalinity (T.Alk. in meq l-1)in Lake Paione Inferiore (LPI) at different layer depths along the water column, at least twice per year (late summer/autumn) during the period 2014-2020. In total 47 records of total alkalinity recorded in LPI for the period are uploaded. Lake Paione Inferiore is a high altitude Alpine lake, located at 2002 m a.s.l. in the Bognanco Valley, Province of Verbania, Piedmont Region, Italy. The Lake has a surface area of 0.86 ha and a maximum depth of 13.5 m.
