The aim of this 20-year study is to describe the effects of large variations of grassland vole populations on their predator communities and of the long-term increase in the fox population in such system. Monitoring covers mountain water vole populations in the Doubs and Jura departments annually since 1989 (commune resolution); since 2004 spotlight counts (foxes, hares, etc.) based on a network of 472 transects in the Doubs department; index transects for montain water vole from 1990 to 2000, montain water vole, common vole and mole since 2014, in Spring and Autumn, mostly in the following communes: Levier, Septfontaines, Evillers, Le Souillot, Chapelle d’huin, Bulle, Chaffois et Bannans. From 1999 in the ZELAC (Zone expérimentale de lutte anti-campagnol, Sombacour and Bians-les-Usiers communes) and since 2005 in the CLAC (Charquemont lutte anti-campagnols, Charquemont, Les Écorces, Fournet-Blancheroche communes). Since 2016 in the ZERRAC (Zone Expérimentale de Régulation des Rongeurs en Agriculture de Conservation, communes of Annoire, Chemin, Petit-Noir, Saint-Aubin, Saint-Loup, Tavaux).

The dataset contains records of the Otter (Lutra lutra) collected in the lower valley of River Sabor (NE Portugal), in the scope of the long-term Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) of the Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Dams (AHBS), promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. This dataset includes results of surveys made in and around the area affected by the dams, from September 2010 to November 2013. Sampling was performed with camera-traps distributed along the lower Sabor river valley (and some tributaries) and along the rivers Maçãs and Angueira, from the river mouth up to 42 km upstream. The presence and identity of the target species were assessed with the visualization of photos taken through camera-trapping.

Sampling was performed in transects distributed along the lower Sabor river valley (and some tributaries), and along the rivers Maçãs and Angueira, up to 42 km upstream. The presence and identity of the target species were assessed through the presence of faeces (spraints) and/or footprints of the target species.

The dataset contains records of the Iberian Wolf (Canis lupus) collected in the lower valley of River Sabor (NE Portugal), in the scope of the long-term Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) of the Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Dams (AHBS), promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. This dataset includes results of surveys made in and around the area affected by the dam, from February 2010 to September 2014. Sampling was performed in transects distributed in the area of the lower Sabor river valley (and some tributaries) and in rivers Maçãs and Angueira, from the river mouth up to 42 km upstream. The presence and identity of the target species were assessed through presence signs, mainly scats. However, since the scats attributed to the wolf were not validated with molecular tools to screen for possible confusion with those of domestic dogs, their taxonomic identification in this dataset is presented at the genus level.

Baixo Sabor: Iberian Wolf [spotlight counts] - Construction and Reservoir Filling Phases [2010-2014]
The dataset contains records of Iberian Wolf (Canis lupus) collected in the lower valley of River Sabor (NE Portugal), in the scope of the long-term Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) of the Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Dams (AHBS), promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. This dataset includes results of spotlight counts made in and around the area affected by the dam, from June 2010 to September 2014. Sampling was performed at fixed transects (spotlight counts) distributed along the lower Sabor river valley and some of its small tributaries, and in the rivers Maçãs and Angueira, from the river mouth up to 42 km upstream. The presence and identity of the target species would be assessed by direct observation of individuals during spotlight counts. No detection of Iberian wolf was obtained during these surveys, thus the dataset reports on locations where the species was deemed absent, thereby providing a baseline to assess future changes in species occurrence patterns.

The dataset contains the results of Iberian Wolf (Canis lupus) (Mammalia) surveys made in the lower valley of River Sabor (NE Portugal), some of its small tributaries, and in the rivers Maçãs and Angueira, in the scope of the long-term Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) of the Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Dams (AHBS), promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. Surveys were made in the area affected by the dam, and in control areas farther from the dam, from June 2010 to August 2014. Sampling was performed 1-3 times a year, between May and November, with a total of 19-28 howling stations sampled each year. No detection of Iberian wolf was obtained during these surveys, thus the dataset reports on locations where the species was deemed absent, thereby providing a baseline to assess future changes in species occurrence patterns.
